Act 1: Don Alhambra del Toro (Mark Simmonds) informs Marco (Alex Davison), Giuseppe (Ben Noble), Gianetta (Alice Dix), and Tessa (Annabelle van Griethuysen) that one of the Palmieri brothers is heir to the throne of Barataria, and so both must set off to rule in a court where women are not allowed.

Act 1: Gianetta (Alice Dix), and Tessa (Annabelle van Griethuysen) fantasise about becoming rulers for Barataria with Giuseppe (Ben Noble) and Marco (Alex Davison).
Replying, we sing
Act 1: Marco (Alex Davison) and Giuseppe (Ben Noble) bid farewell to the contadine along with their fellow gondolieri.

Act 2: The Contadine celebrate being reunited with their gondolieri at the court of Barataria.
With ducal pomp and ducal pride
Act 2: The Duke (John Soper) and Duchess (Rebecca Smith) arrive to be received by the King(s) of Barataria to present their daughter’s hand in marriage.
This polite attention touches
Act 2: Appalled by the lack of Pomp and Circumstance owing to their status, the Duke (John Soper) and Duchess (Rebecca Smith) demonstrate polite behaviour to the Palmieri Brothers.
On the day when I was wedded
Act 2: The Duchess of Plaza-Toro (Rebecca Smith) recounts to Casilda (Alexandra Mather) how she met and married the Duke (John Soper).
Now let the loyal lieges gather round
Act 2: Don Alhambra (Mark Simmonds) has apparently uncovered Inez (Irene Hollett), the nurse who raised the Palmieri Brothers, to identify which brother is the heir to the throne of Barataria.
Luiz! Casilda!
Act 2: Inez reveals that the infant Prince of Barataria was in fact neither of the Brothers Palmieri, but Luiz (Michael Foster), footman to the Duke and Duchess, and Casilda’s (Alexandra Mather) lover.
Once more gondolieri
Act 2 (Finale): Though disappointed that neither will be King, the Brothers Palmieri, their gondolieri and the contadine celebrate that they can now return to Venice.
