The Beggar’s Opera Gin Tasting: Sponsored By York Gin
You are invited to join the cast of 'The Beggar's Opera' in tasting some of York Gin's finest offerings in the convivial (but very disreputable) surroundings of Peachum's 'Lock-up, Speakeasy and All Night Bar' on the Beggar's Opera set. Polly herself will be leading a tasting of five premium gins kindly provided by York Gins (purveyors to the gentry). The tasting will include York Gin's famous 'Outlaw' gin which is the preferred tipple of Captain Macheath himself, when not languishing in Newgate Prison.
York Opera is very grateful for the sponsorship of York Gin. Ticket prices include a tasting guided by Polly (Alexandra Mather) supported by members of the cast, including 5 samples and 2 gin and tonics which you will be able to take into the show if you wish.
Come dressed as a ruffian, a highwayman, a tenor, a vagabond or even incognito - all styles and periods welcome. Polly will be delighted to introduce you to some ‘delicious cordials’ (as her mother would say) - but ticket numbers are limited, so book early.
Note that a ticket for the tasting does not include entry to the show (and vice versa).

Gin Tasting will start an hour before each performance of The Beggar’s Opera, and will last around 30 minutes.
